The atmosphere at Cafe Tanger is welcoming and warm, enhanced by the attentive and friendly proprietors who radiate genuine kindness. Guests rave about the innovative drink selection and delightful pastries. Signature offerings include the traditional Moroccan mint tea, which is freshly brewed with fragrant sprigs of mint—an experience that truly tantalizes the senses. Customer 'Nicole D' noted, “the sweet tea is made with fresh mint,” which perfectly captures the essence of what you’ll find here. For those looking for something savory, try the msemen, a flaky Moroccan flatbread that pairs beautifully with cheese.

In addition, the café serves a delicious and traditional bissara soup—perfect for warming you up on chilly mornings, much appreciated by customer 'Eddine Naïma', who described it as “exquisite.” The café is remarkably affordable, with mouthwatering options that won’t break the bank. Enjoy an un grande crème for only €1.50, as highlighted by local regular 'Mark Fowler.' It’s clear that this is a place that caters to all budgets while ensuring a top-notch taste experience.

For a truly memorable morning, consider visiting Cafe Tanger on a bustling Sunday; the nearby Place Cassanyes comes alive with a vibrant market, offering a taste of local life right after your coffee. Café propre et très accueillant, proposant différentes boissons, et accompagnements salés et sucrés. Le thé à la menthe est exquis! Mention spéciale pour la délicieuse et traditionnelle soupe, la bissara!

On Place Cassanyes in Perpignan. Always lots to see, and a lively market 7 days a week. Un grande crème for €1.50 !

We discovered this Moroccan café by chance looking for something inexpensive and close to our lodgings. 3 mint teas, sweet and made with fresh mint, one espresso, one plain msemen and one msemen with vache-qui-rit cheese for 10€. The two owners were pleasant and friendly. This is the local neighbourhood hangout for the men for their morning tea and everyone seemed to know everyone. There's a local fairly large daily market which was fun to discover. We went 3 times while in Perpignan and fully recommend it. There's not much choice but the cakes and msemen are homemade and delicious! Highly recommend for feeling like you are in the heart of Morocco. We ate inside but there's a large terrace in front and on the side of this corner café.

Our go-to place for coffee and mint tea. Even with our halting French and the fact that the cafe seemed mostly patronized by men, we were treated very well. The proprietors are real gents. They have the best coffee we'd tasted in Perpignan and at a very reasonable price. Then of course, there was their mint tea which was freshly made and delightful. It was a great place to sit and people watch. And on the one morning we went, there was a market in the square, which made the experience even more pleasant. We were sad to leave the cafe behind and will be back if we ever return to Perpignan.
